Changes to Home Aged Care

From 27th Feb 2017 home care packages will follow the consumer. Clients will be able to choose a provider who best meets their goals and needs. Even if you are receiving funding and support from an existing provider, you now have the right to change if you wish as you are now in charge. These changes give consumers more choice over their provider and the care and services they receive.

How to access services?

1.      Call My Aged Care – 1800 200 422

  • You will be asked questions over the phone to work out your care arrangements.
  • You will need your Medicare card
  • If your calling for someone else they will need to give their consent

2.     Have a face-to-face assessment

  • My Aged Care may arrange for an assessor to come to your home
  • They will assess your care needs and eligibility for services and help develop a support plan
  • Someone else can be with you during this visit
  • They can give information about costs. You will be told if you need a financial assessment

3.     Choose Services

  • The service finder on the My Aged Care website can help you locate services in your area
  • Your assessor and My Aged Care can also help find you a local service provider
  • ADS Care can assist you through the whole process
